Hair Cuts – A Revolution that Recurs from Time to Time by Rizvana Abdul
When I was young, I could see people coming out of the barber shops with ‘Bruce Lee hair cuts’. It was a kind of simple, brushed, bowl hair style that made people to enact their own hero in their walk and action. When I grew up, I saw the same spirits rising high and spreading wide giving importance to the style implemented by great personalities belonging to different fields.
Hair cuts were the easiest way for any follower to imitate his hero as he had the immense freedom to change and shape his hair according to his choice. The trend of hair dressing or hair cut continues even today and will remain the same and even more vibrant in the future.
While peeping into the technical side of Haircuts, a barber or a beautician should be a good craftsman to accomplish the demand of his client. An unsatisfied client may spoil the reputation of his business and can even ruin him. Modern beauticians use a variety of machines to shape the hair. Hair irons, hair rollers and hair dryers help them to twist and curl the hair in desired manner. The use of many synthetic and organic chemicals like shampoos, dyes, waxes and gels are also used to make the hair stay like how they want it to be.
When fashion goes a long way in deciding the hair style of a person, culture of a country is also prominent in designing the haircut or styles. The haircuts of Chinese are different from that of the Europeans. Whereas, Africans have a completely special kind of hair dressing that can surprise anyone seeing it for the first time. The climate, tradition and sometimes even the family background decides the hair style of a person.
People belonging to different religions often follow a peculiar hair cut as a part of their belief. In Buddhism, shaved head is seen as part of saintly living. In Christianity, catholic nuns often cut their hair short and Haj pilgrims often shave their head. In many religions, growing hair and beard is seen as a symbol of spiritualism. Many great saints often had a lengthy hair and beard which soon became an accepted style among the people.
Haircuts and hair dressings are inevitable in this world. It is quite embarrassing to think of a world without it. Without having a hair cut it will be quite ridiculous to see a person. The very sight of unruly and unkempt hair is bound to make a disgusting feeing in everyone. It is hygienic and secure to have a haircut at least once in a month.
